Italian singer Gigliola Cinquetti came into prominence in 1964 when her teary 'Non ho l'età' (per amarti) - which translates as 'I'm not old enough to love you' - won San Remo Song Festival. In 1966, Gigliola won San Remo again with Domenico Modugno's 'Dio come ti amo' which later became a popular black-and-white tear-jerker bearing the same name. Following 'Dio come ti amo' chart-action in Brazil is very interesting because it is so unusual. 'Dio come ti amo' first charted in early 1966; then it entered Brazilian charts again circa July 1967 when the movie 'Dio come ti amo' was released and became a favourite with thousands of romantic couples. The movie itself became an unusual hit because it would never go out of print. The flick kept on playing for years. So for all those years the song 'Dio come ti amo' would pop up here and there mostly as an extended-play released by Brazilian RGE. Then, CGD (Compagnia Generale di Dischi) the Italian original label switched from RGE to CBS so Brazilians had a new batch of 'Dio come ti amo' / 'Non ho l'età' extended-plays released on the market. I don't know exactly why 'Dio come ti amo' is charting in March 1974, more than 8 years after its original release... but that's a fact.
