Differently from previous years (since 1966) when Roberto Carlos' annual album would stay at the top of the chart for at least 6 months 1974 had unusual strong competition from rock band Secos & Molhados whose breakthrough album went up to the top and stayed there for an staggering 9 weeks. It's ironic that Roberto Carlos vol. 7 - released in December 1973, just in time for the Christmas season - is arguably his best album and it didn't quite reach the top but for this one solitary week. 'Palavras', 'Rotina' and 'Proposta' are top-tracks in its class.
